What is Great British Insulation Scheme:
ECO+ Rebranded as The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) is a new initiative from the government that aims to help people improve their home insulation, increase their energy efficiency and lower their energy bills. Remains until March 2026. It will mainly deliver single insulation measures, such as loft and cavity wall insulation. The cost of these measures may be fully or partially covered by the initiative, depending on the eligibility criteria and the property issues.
Great British Insulation Scheme Eligibility:
The eligibility criteria for the Great British Insulation Scheme are based on two factors: the energy efficiency rating of your home and your council tax band.
- Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or lower.
- Council Tax bands, which are A-D in England and A-E in Scotland and Wales.
You can check which council tax band you are in and check the EPC rating of your home.

If you do not have an EPC we can arrange free assessment for your home.
How this scheme different to ECO4 scheme?
The Great British Insulation Scheme is designed to be complementary to ECO4, which is part of the UK Government’s Help to Heat schemes.
Unlike ECO4’s whole-house approach, the Great British Insulation Scheme will mostly focus on delivering single lower-cost insulation measures, such as loft and cavity wall insulation.
In most cases, cavity wall Insulation or loft insulation will be recommended. These are typically cheaper to install, and the government grant is likely to cover the majority of the cost. More expensive measures, such as external and internal solid wall, flat roof , under floor and room-in-roof insulation may need a larger contribution from the customer, or landlord.
